Polished Septarian Nodule
Polished Septarian Nodule – Self-Collected from Gisborne, New Zealand
A stunning polished septarian nodule, self-collected by us from the Gisborne region on the East Coast of New Zealand's North Island, and carefully carved and polished by hand here at NZ Pyrites. Every step of this specimen's journey — from the field to your collection — has been handled personally by us.
This piece is a centre-sliced slab taken from the heart of the nodule, revealing a remarkable natural pocket in the centre filled with small cubic-like calcite crystals. This internal cavity is a rare and beautiful feature, adding extraordinary character and geological interest to an already stunning specimen.
As an added wow factor, this nodule is UV reactive — the orange tones glow a vivid green under a black light, transforming this already eye-catching piece into something truly magical.
Septarian nodules are formed from a fascinating geological process, creating striking natural patterns of contrasting minerals within. When polished and sliced through the centre, the internal structure is revealed in full — showcasing a beautiful mosaic of earthy tones, natural geometry, and in this case, a sparkling crystal-lined pocket.
