Found only in Te Waipounamu (the South Island of Aotearoa), pounamu has been treasured by Māori for generations and holds deep connections to \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003ewhenua\u003c\/i\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, (land, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003ewhakapapa\u003c\/i\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, (history) \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003emana\u003c\/i\u003e\u003cspan\u003e (power) and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003ewairua,\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003cspan\u003e(energy). \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIt is much more than a stone; pounamu carries the history and connections of the people who have held and passed it on.
